Our breathable basic weather protection material
The reliable TEXAPORE CORE weather protection technology provides breathable protection from rain and wind. Our classic TEXAPORE material provides guaranteed waterproofing, windproofing and breathability.
• waterproof: 10,000 mm**• breathable: 6,000 g/m²/24hrs*• windproof
PRIMALOFT®
PrimaLoft® insulation and fabrics: warm - dry - soft - durable
A synthetic alternative to down: Ultra-fine, naturally water-repellent fibres, made mainly from polyester, regulate temperature and guarantee comfort and well-being.
The thin, soft PrimaLoft® fibres create a particularly durable synthetic-fibre filling which withstands many washes and the stresses endured from a wide range of activities.
Since the fibres are significantly finer than other synthetic insulation materials, they can store more air, as well as being able to be compressed smaller. For this reason, the down-like padding is mainly used to insulate jackets.
TEXASHIELD PRO
Our windproof material with a high degree of wear comfort
TEXASHIELD technology is primarily used for stretchy softshell items but also features in the outer materials of slightly insulating clothing and windshells.
TEXASHIELD PRO is 100% windproof, highly water-repellent and breathable, and effectively protects against cold and wind. The 3-layer material is stretchy, ensures freedom of movement and insulates via its additional inner layer.
TEXATHERM CORE
Our fibre insulation made from recycled and reused materials.
Our synthetic, water-repellent alternative to down. The warming synthetic-fibre insulation has a moderate loft, is extremely breathable and dries quickly.
TEXAWARM
Thermal fabric for footwear
TEXAWARM guarantees the recommended thermal performance for temperatures as low as -20 / -30 / -40°C, depending on shoe model and where the shoe is worn.
100% PFC - Free
Label for water-repellent coating without PFC
One of our top aims is to eliminate PFCs in our collection.
PFCs (per- and poly-fluoride chemicals) are substances used on the surfaces of items to give them water-repellent or fat-repellent properties, which is the reason they are mainly used in waterproof trousers and jackets.
As it is still not clear which PFCs are "good" (i.e. degradable) and which ones are not, we took the decision to eliminate them all from our entire collection. We are now very close to attaining our goal: all our clothing and equipment are now completely PFC-free. And the number of PFC-free shoes in our collection is on the rise.
3-ΙΝ-1 SYSTEM
Integrated layering system for changing weather conditions
The easy integrated layering system stems from 1983 and was completely revamped in 2022, in order to be lighter, stronger and ever more weatherproof.
Our 3in1 system combines two jackets with zip system: a weatherproof jacket to protect against the rain and an insulating layer that provides warmth and breathability. The jackets can be worn either together or separately, depending on your preference.
The front zip on the inner jacket is attached to the second zip on the outer jacket; fastening loops on the sleeves and at the neck prevent it from slipping.
NATURAL DOWN
Down is still the epitome of the warmth/weight ratio. No other material is as ** warm**, yet so ** lightweight** and packs away small.
The degree of heat retention from mixed down depends on the percentage of down used (percentage of down/smallest feathers) and fill power (CUIN, "cubic inch per ounce" ). The greater the percentage of down to small feathers, the warmer the product. The degree of warmth also increases with higher loft.
We use the ratios 80/20 with 550 CUIN and 90/10 with 700-800 CUIN.
JACK WOLFSKIN only uses geese and duck down from an RDS-certified (Responsible Down Standard) manufacturer. Regular and independent inspections guarantee that the down has been obtained from responsible sources (not live-plucked nor from forced-fed animals). Down is a by-product of the meat industry.
